WASZP and Vakaros Announce Technology Partnership to Advance Fleet Racing
The WASZP Class is proud to announce a new two-year partnership with Vakaros, bringing world-class digital race management technology to WASZP regattas around the globe. Effective January 15, this collaboration marks an important step forward in the evolution of dinghy foiling fleet racing.
At the heart of the partnership is Vakaros’s RaceSense technology, a system that has become the benchmark for modern race management in sailing. By enabling GPS-based starting lines, automated OCS identification, and real-time data validation, RaceSense delivers fairer starts, clearer outcomes, and a dramatically improved experience for sailors, race committees, and organizers alike.
For the WASZP Class, the impact goes far beyond hardware. The adoption of standardized digital race management supports the Class’s long-standing commitment to innovation, transparency, and professionalism. Sailors benefit from consistent, high-quality racing across regions and events, while organizers gain tools that reduce complexity, improve accuracy, and raise the overall standard of competition.
For sailors, Vakaros will also have a huge impact on the training environment. The ability to gather and review critical, super-accurate data in training enables sailors to rapidly accelerate their progress in the class. Speaking on The Swarm podcast, several top performing WASZP sailors, including 2024 WASZP Games Champion Magnus Overbeck and 2025 high performers Pablo Astiazaran and Hippolyte Gruet, have attributed a lot of their successes to their ability to exploit theutilize feedback from their Vakaros devices. Coaching can be expensive, and the perception that a coach is required to train effectively creates a significant financial barrier to the sport. Vakaros tackles that barrier by empowering sailors to be their own coaches, with bespoke, objective feedback every second of every session.
This partnership reinforces the WASZP’s identity as a forward-looking, technology-enabled class that embraces fleet racing at the highest level while remaining accessible and inclusive. As foiling continues to define the future of dinghy sailing, the collaboration with Vakaros ensures that WASZP racing is supported by systems as advanced and dynamic as the boats themselves.
Together, WASZP and Vakaros are setting a new standard for how foiling regattas are run, combining athletic performance, cutting-edge technology, and fair competition to deliver a world-class racing experience for sailors everywhere.
