Introducing the New RaceSense Player: View Racing Differently
The new RaceSense Player combines live race tracking, immersive 2D and 3D course visualization, and fleet-wide performance analytics into a single powerful platform.
RaceSense has launched its next-generation Player, transforming how sailors, coaches, race officials, and spectators interact with race data—both live on the water and during post-race debriefs back at the dock.
Powered by high-precision data from Vakaros devices and the RaceSense ecosystem, the Player enables users to stream live racing, review complete regatta replays, analyze fleet dynamics, and evaluate individual boat performance down to the second.
“We’ve invested significant effort in advancing race management and developing a solution that addresses a real need within the sport,” said Vakaros Co-Founder Jake Keilman.

The Player’s 2D view offers a clean, overhead perspective of the course, making it simple to monitor tactical positioning and fleet movement across every leg of the race.
Switch to the immersive 3D view to integrate real-world topography and water depth, framing the competition directly within the geographic context of the venue.
This spatial detail is vital at complex venues where coastlines, islands, channels, and depth changes actively shape tactical strategy. The 3D view presents the entire fleet within this complete geographic picture.
Keilman explained, “Watching in each mode offers a new perspective. 2D is awesome for learning. 3D is cinematic and phenomenal for broadcast. Now, you can transition between them easily.”
Watch Racing Live
Follow the competition from anywhere. The Player delivers a live, real-time feed of the fleet to spectators, allowing them to track specific competitors, monitor positions, and follow tactical developments across the entire course.
It also offers yacht clubs and event organizers a seamless way to bring the action ashore. By broadcasting the live stream in clubhouses, fan zones, and hospitality areas, organizers can create an engaging second-screen experience. Even when the fleet goes offshore or rounds a headland, shore-side audiences stay connected to every moment of the race.
Turn Race Data Into Analysis
When the racing concludes, the Player seamlessly transitions into a comprehensive post-race analysis tool.
Sailors and coaches can isolate a single boat or benchmark it against the broader fleet, analyzing key metrics including speed, heading, heel, and trim. Rather than simply identifying where a boat gained or lost distance, teams can pinpoint exactly when changes occurred and evaluate the underlying boat metrics.
Understand Performance Across the Fleet
An individual boat’s metrics tell only part of the story. On the racecourse, true performance is measured relative to the fleet.
The Player places individual performance within the full context of the fleet, displaying where groups separated, how tactical positioning evolved, and how competitors responded to shifting wind conditions.
This contextual analysis provides valuable insights during critical moments that define a race: the starting sequence, the initial wind shift, tactical splits up the beat, congested mark roundings, and major fleet moves.
